Alison Svoboda crée des œuvres sur la transparence, qui comme une voie, donne à regarder des couleurs effilées sous les doigts et laisse naître une vision de la frontière entre des mondes, ou qui comme une voix donne à écouter le vacarme du blanc, du clair au-delà des couleurs. Tel un batelier, elle invite le spectateur à explorer la réalité, traverser vers d’autres contrées.
Elle revendique des appartenances. La Grande Bretagne où elle est née, celle de JMW Turner qui la bouleverse par ses atmosphères annonciatrices de l’impressionnisme, ou de Ben Nicholson pour qui la peinture était « de la pensée et non du pigment ». La culture japonaise qu’elle adopte et sa calligraphie, entre expression et mystère. Les villes où elle a vécu, peint, exposé comme Londres, Berlin, New-York, Naples ou Paris, chacune avec ses luminosités.
Sa peinture se nourrit d’alliances avec la musique, le chant, l’écriture et la mise en scène, des pratiques indispensables pour susciter des émotions chez l’autre et espérer combattre le vertige du monde.

Alison Svoboda paints about transparency. As the eye travels along the threads of colour stretched by her fingers over the canvas, one discovers a vision of a threshold between worlds. Beyond colour, the ear perceives sounds of whites, of light. Alison Invites the onlooker to get on board and allow to be carried away on an exploration voyage to far-off destinies and perhaps other realities.
She has her roots: Great Britain for one, where she was born and where she was overwhelmed by JMW Turner and Ben Nicholson who maintained that painting "...is thought, not pigments". Early on she was attracted to Asiatic art, philosophy and calligraphy, particularly those of Japan. The cities where she lived and exhibited her work London, New York, Naples, Paris each influenced her with their own views on light.
Her painting is tightly linked to her relationship with music, voicework, writing and theatre directing. It is urgent to share human emotion in the hopes that they will stave off our attraction to the human abyss.
